Long elongated days
The night slides in like viscous liquid
The streets thin out…
..and spaces become opaque
Cricket sounds splinter still air
Footsteps echo in silent streets
The expanse of night cloaks half the globe
Streetlights shed their hollow glow
There’s no fear in a summer’s night
No terrors lurking like the cold of winter
Heads and hearts are bathed in light, even when traversing..
