What Makes a Good Image

So what makes a good image?

Do you ask yourself that? Do you look at the work of others, awed at the corner to corner sharpness? Blown away by the preserved highlights and shadow detail?

Perhaps a good image is merely one that the viewer likes…

The image here… (and maybe you don’t like it) it’s not sharp, the highlights are blown, the shadows are blocked.

But it still has visual impact. Can it be that visual impact is the most important thing that an image has to offer?

I personally think it can.
