Photo Project: Costal Isolation

I like to set myself little photographical challenges.

One thing that I really enjoy about photography, is that you can go out with a camera and see what you can see.

But another way, is that you can go out with a very clear idea of what you want, you can go out with an idea and exclude all else to focus on obtaining that idea

For me, a good way to do this, is to set myself a themed project. Think of it as commissioning yourself for work.

Costal Isolation

I’m lucky. I currently get to spend about 6 months a year living in Portugal. I have to say that this can lead to some good natured envy from my family and friends back home. Who assume I spend my idyllic days, basking in the sunshine.

Well OK, summer is pretty special!

But it can be quite isolating being away from family and friends and I don’t speak Portuguese… Every life has some daily grind, that doesn’t stop just because the sun is shining.

Once the summer season is over, things take on a different vibe. The tourists depart, things slow down and the place gets emptier.

The heat and playful breeze has dissipated and winter looms from the Atlantic.
