The mind is something we can’t switch off.
And we shouldn’t want too.
However empty we find the world, the imagination is always full.
English Romantic poet William Blake believed that the real world had no meaning unless it was given depth and soul by the human imagination; or in short, that reality as you know it is only a construct of your imagination.
To be alone with one’s thoughts…
…to let your imagination soar skyward…
…to create and live textured realities..
…experience the sights and sounds of prehistory or perhaps a futuristic utopia..
…is (in my view) time very well spent indeed
So this guy is sitting there imagining chatting to Julius Caesar, or Marie Curie, or parachuting out of a plane or snorkelling along the great barrier reef… But maybe it’s just a guy sitting there worrying about a utility bill.
Our answer is as his. Within our imagination.
So whatever you daydream about. Enjoy. Become immersed and give your reality the full depth of your imagination.
